Alter Ego

SINGAPORE (1 August 2007)—Local newspaper Today reported on Sun Ho’s latest song, “China Wine” and her new Japanese “hip-hop geisha” image. This persona of the geisha, as created by her current producer Wyclef Jean, does not belong to the traditional Japanese tearooms but the modern world of reggae and Jamaican dancehall.

Impressing the audience with her lithe figure and slick dance moves in the “China Wine” music video, Sun, who has recorded five top-selling Mandarin albums, proved that not only is she able to belt out heartwarming melodies with her sweet vocals, she is also capable of grooving to the beat. “As an artist, you have to grow and challenge yourself. This is a breath of fresh air for me,” she said, referring to the rigorous regime she had to undergo in preparation for the MV.

The “China Wine” MV was released in America on 4 July and reached the fourth spot on BET.com, a popular online music portal.
