Encounters Of The Sun-Kind
SINGAPORE (24 May 2007)—Local entertainment magazine UWeekly featured an interesting article about two fan groups in Singapore—those of Sun Ho and Stefanie Sun. It was reported that Sun Ho’s album sales would follow very closely on the heels of Stefanie Sun on Taiwan’s G-Music or Singapore’s CD-RAMA charts, resulting in displeasure between the two camps. However, Sun said that album sales were not as important as making good music, a result which could benefit both fans who could then appreciate music by two different artists.
Regarding her work in America, Sun’s foray into Hollywood has resulted in an interesting blend of East and West music. Her music contains Oriental traces with the introduction of Chinese instruments like the pipa and erhu. And with the help of her martial arts instructor (who was a stunt double for Maggie Q and Lucy Liu), Sun also incorporated some martial arts moves into her dance choreography. In fact, these developments in Sun’s career prompted a businessman to consider funding her for a role in a movie, thrilling the singer greatly. |
