All About SKIN

SINGAPORE (30 June 2005)—Local news fashion insert, The Straits Times URBAN, ran an interesting feature on homegrown pop singer, Sun Ho, on her latest venture into the fashion retail scene. The article also included a fashion spread that gave readers a sneak preview on the range of clothing and accessories found at the store.
The outlet, situated at the Marina Square shopping mall, carries hip streetwear labels from LA and Italy, such as Von Dutch, Ed Hardy, Antik Denim and Bejeweled. All apparel and accessories like jewelry, belts and caps, are available for both men and women, with prices ranging from $89 to over $500 for a pair of jeans.
On naming the shop “Skin” and her foray into the fashion circle, the budding entrepreneur explained that “clothes are like my second skin ... I've dreamt of becoming an entrepreneur and I am into fashion, so this is the perfect combination.” She elaborated on how she became familiar with those brands while she was in America pursuing her music career. Back in Los Angeles, her stylist, Marcus Laxamana, who is a floor manager at one of America's leading department stores, would dress her in those clothes.
Sun also had the rare opportunity to meet Tonny Sorenson, the owner of Von Dutch, as well as Christian Audigier, the designer and co-founder of Ed Hardy. Forging new ties with these people allowed Skin to become the sole distributor for Ed Hardy in Singapore and three other Southeast Asian countries. While Sun may be in and out of Singapore, she will make effort to be at the boutique whenever she is home. “I won't be running it but I am the buyer and promoter,” said the singer who is known for her sophisticated fashion sense.
The article also briefly mentioned her new dance single “Ends of the Earth” to be released in July as well as her first English album which will be released next February.
